Our staff may be divided among our three locations but we are all united in our love of art, making it, sharing it and helping others find their niche. We have fun on the job and we also like to play together after hours. Perhaps it is a cookie party, crazy Christmas party in July or a field trip to take a workshop together, we're always having a great time!
Meet the Owner
Anne Novak has owned Creative Framing & The Art Box since 1980. She has expanded the store from one location in Charlottesville to our current three locations that include Lynchburg and Crozet. Her enthusiasm is contagious and her energy level boggles the mind.
None of our stores would run without Anne’s husband Raleigh working behind the scenes to keep our buildings in tip top shape and to help with those large frames we are famous for. Animal lovers, they keep a passel of dogs, cats and rare breed chickens on their farm in Amherst County.

“Hi! I’m Eli Jessee and I’m an artist working at Creative Framing & The Art Box in Charlottesville. I’ve been a customer here for around 6 years and I’ve been working here since August 2022! I love getting to work with art and other artists. I work behind the scenes building many of our frames in Charlottesville and cutting fun and unique matting designs. I’m an acrylic painter and I focus mainly on portrait work and landscapes. I also have been exploring mixed media collages recently! My favorite art supply would be a stay-wet palette because it makes my acrylic paints last much longer.”
