GOLD
LEAF FRAMES AT CREATIVE FRAMING
Creative Framing
carries Carat Gold Leaf frames. These beautiful frames
are hand carved especially to fit your picture, and then finished
by hand to the tone of gold you choose.
Made by the same companies
that make frames for the Metropolitan Museum, the Boston
Museum of Fine Arts and other famous galleries, they are world
class frames meant to hold some of the world's best art.
There are times when
a piece of privately owned art is so wonderful that it deserves
a gold leaf frame to show it off properly. Sometimes, it is the
room that determines the need for a gold leaf frame. In a setting
of fine antique frames and furniture, a gold leaf frame often
fits more comfortably than a machine finished frame.
Only you can know if
a gold leaf frame is the perfect treatment for your particular
situation. When it is, Creative Framing is the place to
come.
AMERICA'S PREMIER GOLD LEAF
FRAME-MAKERS
AMCI: AMCI
has been producing the finest quality, handcrafted, custom-made
carat gold frames for over twenty years. All of their frames
are hand finished to your specifications using the best materials
available. Frames begin with select American hardwoods which
are cut to size, then carved, joined and finished by hand.
Their gesso is mixed with English whiting. The colored bole
is mixed with French clay and rabbit skin glue. Polished semi-precious
quartz agate stones are used to burnish the gold that has
been beaten into almost transparent leaf in Italy and Germany.
The techniques AMCI uses to carve and gild have remained
virtually unchanged for over 500 years.
APF Holdings:
APF is recognized as one of the nation's
pre-eminent manufacturers of faithfully recreated period frames
and mouldings. Their historic product range is the most extensive
available and represents the history of the development of
frames from the fifteenth century to the present. Selections
include Spanish, Italian, English, Dutch, French and American
periods. Their diversity and stylistic authenticity are executed
to museum-quality standards. Using only the finest hardwoods
and finishing materials, including 22 carat gold leaf, their
skilled craftsmen combine time-honored traditions and state-of-the-art
methodology to recreate the ageless beauty of the original
antique frame entirely by hand.
New Look
Picture Frames: This innovative frame-maker was established
in 1975. For more than a quarter of a century they have specialized
in round and oriental corner frames leafed with 22K gold of
the highest quality. New Look Picture Frames manufactures
over 200 different styles of moulding which are custom cut
and hand finished the traditional way, and yet many have a
contemporary flair. Their moulding styles range from a traditional
scraffito and red scratch Italian style to a contemporary
black lacquer and gold floater. New Look Picture Frames
has the skills to produce some of the finest frames on the
market today.
Husar Picture Frames:
Husar Picture Frame
Company is a family-owned and operated wholesale picture frame
manufacturer. Established in Chicago in 1934 by Ervin A. Husar,
the company is now in its fourth generation and still
maintains the high standards of old world quality for which it
is renowned. All of the frames are custom handcrafted and
hand finished in Chicago. They are cut and joined to the
frames prior to finishing which means that all corners are
finished corners; no seams are visible.
Thanhardt-Burger: Hand-Crafted
Custom Frames: The Thanhardt-Burger Corporation is located in
La Porte, Indiana. They specialize in the manufacturing of
hand-made picture frames. The company started in 1927 for the
purpose of framing prints and wholesaling them to fine
furniture stores and department stores. Today the Thanhardt-Burger
Corporation offers hundreds of historically accurate American
and European frame styles to frame shops, antique art dealers
and galleries. Many of the frames are hand-carved from
basswood; some are wood and composition pressed from old
boxwood molds. Finishes are available in metal leaf, 12K and
22K gold.
