VISITING THE ART BOX
The Art Box is a fun
to browse art supply shop in Charlottesville, Virginia. We carry
brands and products that are hard to find, and we discount all
of our art supplies 10% below retail every day. Our cheerful
employees are always happy to help you find the right paint, equipment,
brushes or raw materials for your project. Unusual and richly
colored items fill every nook and cranny. There are beautiful
handmade papers, sumi ink, jars of pure pigment, Schmincke, Gamblin
and Winsor & Newton oil paint, tjanting needles for batik work,
an open box of pastels for you to try, and hundreds of brushes
that you can test before you buy them. Give yourself an hour.
You won't want to leave sooner than that.
MISSION
Our goal is to provide
the best and most interesting art supplies to Charlottesville
and Central Virginia. We put special emphasis on obtaining top
quality products from around the world. We discount every
art supply product that we carry, believing that it shouldn't
cost an arm and a leg to have the best products. We want to make
buying art supplies convenient for you, and are always happy to
special order products. We test most of the products we carry
before we decide to pick them up, and that gives us some knowledge
of the particular characteristics of the product. We try to be
as helpful as we can regarding the use of the art supplies and
their special strengths and weaknesses, so that you can choose
the right materials for your project.
HISTORY
For a number of years,
we dreamed about adding art supplies to our list of services and
product lines. In the fall of 1997, Creative Framing began carrying
an interesting collection of hard to find art supplies, which
provide exceptional quality for the price. Our stock increased
every month, and when we found our shop bursting at the seams
we were ready to expand. In the summer of 2000 we moved the art
supplies into the adjoining suite and connected the two spaces
with a large portal.
